RSPCA Leicester, Woodside

Junior Membership

Welcome to the Junior Members page on the Woodside Website.

You may not realise this but you can become a member of the RSPCA, as an adult, as a ‘Claws’ member (13 – 17 years) or as a Junior member (7 up to 13 years). Once you are a member of the National RSPCA, you automatically become a member of the Leicestershire Branch and that’s when we send all Junior and Claws members our programme of activities.

We run a yearly Junior Members Programme and we have an active group of young members who regularly take part in the Sunday afternoons that are laid on to tackle a range of animal issues.

The idea of these themed afternoons is to look in some depth about a range of animal issues, raising awareness and learning how to help animals. We also aim to have fun and this is the perfect chance to meet other like-minded youngsters. The new programme starts each year in March/April and from then on there are various activities all based here at Woodside. You also get invited to all of the other events we do at Woodside throughout the year.

There is a limit to the amount of ‘Hands on’ stuff we can do for reasons of Health and Safety but there are still many opportunities for you to do things which are more ‘behind the scenes’ so to speak. There may be a resident expert assisting on the day, there may be fun and games, face-painting and drama to be involved with. I try to make the afternoons different, stimulating and relevant to everyone who attends. We always have refreshments and there’s usually a competition as well.

If all of this sounds like something you would like to get involved with, please contact Jade at Woodside and ask for a Junior Membership leaflet or check out the National RSPCA Website Under 8Teenz for details.

In the future we hope that this page will contain lots of information, ideas and pictures created by the Juniors at events so please keep in touch.

I hope we will see you soon!
