Charity Shop Assistant:

Birstall, Melton, Wigston or Loughborough

Sorting and pricing stock, using the till, serving customers, displaying stock and other general duties.

Weekly, hours to suit.

Home Visitor

Visiting people in their own homes to check the suitability of accommodation before animals are re-homed. You cover the area local to you, unless you are happy to travel further a field.

Training provided.

As required. The Home Visiting Co-ordinator will contact you to arrange a convenient time for the visit.

Van Driver or Donations Collector

Van Driver: Collecting goods from peoples’ homes for delivery to our charity shops, transporting equipment to and from events, house to house drop off/collections of RSPCA donation bags, collection of food/money donation boxes from supermarkets.

Van provided.

Donations Collector: Visiting shops/supermarkets in your own car, replacing small donation tins and returning full tins to Woodside.

Kennels/Cattery Assistant

Cleaning out animal pens, feeding animals and other general duties as required.

Dog Walker

Taking kennelled dogs for a walk within Woodside boundaries, under the guidance of the Dog Walking Co-ordinators.

*No under 18’s

In-Store & Flag Day Donations Collector

Collecting change from the public on behalf of Woodside and promoting awareness of the Animal Centre. Collections are often held during the course of a week in supermarkets and other selected locations.

Minimum of 1 hour on any day during collection week

Events Assistant

Gate Marshall: collecting entrance money from visitors

Parking Attendant: allocating parking to visitors/managing car park

Fundraising Stall Assistant: manning a fundraising/tombola stall of fundraising goods, handling money and serving the public

Refreshments Assistant: helping with food & refreshments - either to sell to the public or for other volunteers

Runner: to oversee the event, making sure everything is running smoothly and to report back to the event co-ordinator accordingly

General Assistant: assist with the manual set-up of the event (tables, gazebos etc) and/or clearing away at the end. Could also include manning a registration table for sponsored activities/dog shows etc or any other general duties as they arise.

Generally for the duration of the event.

Choose which events you would like to participate in from the fundraising calendar.

Junior Activities Helper

Woodside holds annual activities days at the Centre for RSPCA Junior members, exploring themes such as “Canine Capers” and “Exotics”. Junior days are fun, educational and practical, and run from 1.45 – 5.00pm on selected Sundays throughout the year. Helpers are needed to assist with small group activities and practical tasks.

Woodside Shop Retail Assistant

Retail Assistant: Helping to run the on-site shop alongside the Shop Manager. Serving the public, pricing stock, handling deliveries, displaying goods, taking orders and other general duties.

Hours to be arranged with the Shop Manager

Administration Assistant

Preparing the Woodside Newsletter for mailing, data entry, help with bulk mailings, preparing reservation/re-homing packs, photocopying, faxing, and any other duties as required.

Your Skills!

If you can offer your skills or interests to Woodside, then more probably than not, we can make use of them! For example:

·Web design / I.T.

·Graphic design or illustration

·Photography

·Catering/baking – maybe you could help to supply food for an event, or make cakes/biscuits to sell

·Administration

·Complementary therapies – e.g. massage, reflexology

·Copywriting or journalism

·Animal grooming

·Arts & crafts

·Gardening or general maintenance

·Entertainment – comedy, face painting, dancing, singing, circus skills - in fact, anything!

·Organising your own fundraising event with support from Woodside
