Animal Fostering

Fostering

We’re always looking for new foster carers to help us look after the hundreds of animals that come into our care every year. Volunteering as a fosterer is extremely rewarding, and it is ideal if you would like to welcome an animal into your home without the permanent commitment of adoption.

Our amazing team of dedicated fosterers provide loving homes for animals which are not ready to be rehomed immediately. Examples of these may include animals recovering from surgery, pregnant cats, orphan and hand-rear kittens, and animals involved in ongoing RSPCA Cruelty Cases.  Moving to a home environment could mean that the animal has a faster recovery, or can get ready for life in their ‘forever home’. It gives an alternative option to kennel or cattery life, as well as freeing up space for other animals to come into the centre.

All expenses and equipment, including food and veterinary bills, will be provided by us. Fostering for Woodside is very flexible and we will always try to work around your commitments and requirements. This means that many of our volunteer foster families have children, or already have their own pets in the home. It can be hard to say goodbye to foster animals when they are ready for rehoming, but it’s incredibly rewarding to know that you helped to give them a second chance in life. However, many people become so-called ‘failed fosterers’ and end up adopting their animal as a permanent pet!

We are currently introducing a new volunteer system and changing the way that we let you know about fostering opportunities.

Thank you for your patience and we hope to have exciting news for you very soon.
